Max Last Name
“Max and his father have been moving around the continental US for as long as he can remember. As a result of the elaborate fabrications passed down by his father, Max thinks this is all part of one big game – created especially for them. In reality, this charade has been invented by his father to distance Max from his criminal wrong-doings.
As the novel and the boy move from city to city, tensions rise. They are one another’s best friend, but what happens when Max realizes his idol isn’t the person he has made him out to be?”
At the outset of the semester, Thea knew what she wanted to write about, and therefore she was able to jump directly into writing once project time began. The novel is titled Max Lastname, and is aimed toward young adults. It tells the story of Max and his father who move around the continental US, changing identities with each move. Max believes this to be a game invented by his father, but in reality it’s a way for the father to keep his son away from his own criminal wrong-doings. Thea finished off her project with a book launch at McNally Robinson on June 16th, 2018.
