I have always been drawing, yet I never thought much about it other than as a hobby. Recently, I realized that I cannot live without art, for it is my passion. Propel gave me the opportunity to explore the world of animation – something that piqued my interest but never had the courage to try.

During the semester, I created a 2D animated short film, Dive, to learn animation while improving my overall draftsmanship. All animation was digitally done in Procreate and composited in After Effects, where I learned how to navigate through the timeline and add visual effects. Premiere Pro was used for the sound design. The film revolves around the idea of breaking free from the fears that impede you from trying new things. It is also a reflection of myself to not be scared to dive right in.

Don’t be afraid to try. Be afraid that you didn’t try.
