For the past few months, I’ve been working on making my own video game. To accomplish this goal, I’ve had to learn coding, pixel art, organization, planning, and how to arrange all these elements together into a program called Unity. My first steps involved a lot of research and planning. YouTube was the main help here, as you can find a tutorial for basically anything on there. Once I figured out how to import singular sprites, I began to experiment with animation, and pixel-art sceneries to use as backgrounds. On a daily basis, I ran into numerous tiny obstacles when making a game, the majority of them concerning issues with code. I can’t say it was an easy process, but it was a very rewarding one, and I learned a ton about what goes into making a video game professionally.
