Jazz Composition - Leon

$0.00

Leon composed a jazz piece to be played by a combo (small jazz group) of musicians from his school’s jazz band. The piece follows the style of Jazz Fusion, which is when another genre is combined with jazz. The specific genre of the piece is Jazz Rock. Leon wrote the parts for all eight instruments featured in the piece. Leon’s primary goal when coming into Propel was learning as much music theory as he could, and he certainly satisfied that goal.

Leon learned how to craft a melody and create complex chords utilizing inversions, substitutions, and notes outside the traditional triad. Leon also learned how to properly notate triplets and syncopated rhythms, as well as write out a solo to be played by the Tenor Saxophone.
