This semester in Propel I set out to write, produce, and perform my own original music, with the hope to release said songs to the public by the end of my time at Propel. In total, I made 4 demos and finished 2 “good copy” songs, which included live analog performances from myself and my peers. Both songs explore themes of self-discovery, coming of age, and the turmoil of a teenage brain. In addition, I learned how to produce and mix my music using Logic Pro X. In this program, I learned how to record vocals and instrumentals and learned how to edit my audio using flex time and pitch. On the mixing end, I learned how to use compression, reverb, EQ, and an assortment of other plugins. I have now released two songs; “Wildflower” and “I Guess” can be streamed on all major streaming platforms.
