I came into Propel knowing exactly what I wanted to do: publish my YA fantasy book, “Flame of the Blood.” The first in the “League of Blood” series, it is about a girl cursed with gold blood that cures the plague who is forced into a marriage to the charming but naïve Crown Prince. With witches, magic, romance, and banter, “Flame of the Blood” encapsulates everything you’d want out of a high fantasy novel.

Ambitious as I am, I quickly realized that I had to recalibrate my expectations of what I could accomplish over the course of the semester. So, my goal morphed from publishing to finalizing the third draft and printing an Advanced Reader Copy of my book. Even after I scaled down my project, I pushed myself harder than I ever have when it comes to writing and managed to complete a 90k word manuscript in four months.
