Bailey W - Short Stories

Bailey came to Propel to further develop her writing skills. She wanted to learn new techniques to help bring her stories to life. With each story she wrote, she applied a new technique she learned earlier that week. She used techniques such as show, don’t tell, metaphors, strong character dialogue, and many others. Her stories revolved around realistic fiction, as she wanted to tell stories that could connect with others. She told stories about herself and her peers. They all touch on different subjects such as mental health, relationships of all kinds, and high school.

Another one of her passions is drawing. With each of her short stories, she drew an illustration to go along with it. She received feedback throughout the semester from many peers not only on her writing, but her illustrations as well. Each story has a message in them that someone can relate to. One of the things she wanted to do was have her stories connect with others and have people read them. She went to her home school and read one of her stories to a group of grades ten students. They proceeded to give her feedback on the story and tried to guess what the message in the story was.
