Ayat-Lahi’s Propel project focuses on getting engaged in experiences and thought processes that are related to engineering. She decided to sew and design clothes so that she could immerse herself in some problem-solving situations. Her project consists of crafting five pieces of clothing with the use of different patterns and fabric. She wrote blog posts about each garment, reflected upon challenges, and included discussion of the rules that she applied from the text 101 Things I Learned in Engineering School.
As a part of her journey, she uploaded pictures of models showcasing her clothing on her Instagram page in hopes to be a source of inspiration to others. At the end of the semester, Ayat-Lahi will continue to design, thrift, and recreate clothes as she is becoming more confident and comfortable making her patterns.
